The core of this framework addresses the crucial need for students to develop not just knowledge and skills, but also attitudes and values to guide ethical and responsible actions in an increasingly digitalized and interconnected world. It focuses on individual and collective well-being. It is designed to address complex, volatile, and uncertain global changes, including accelerated technological innovations like Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT)
Definition
Defined holistically as the mobilisation of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to meet complex demands in situations of uncertainty. The framework centers on seven elements, including:
1. Transformative Competencies: Three high-level competencies that enable students to transform society and shape a better future, considered uniquely human (i.e., less likely to be automated by AI): Creating new value, Reconciling tensions and dilemmas, Taking responsibility.
2. Core Foundations: Fundamental knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that are prerequisites for further learning. These include: Cognitive foundations, Health foundations, Social and emotional foundations.
3. Skills: The ability and capacity to carry out processes and use knowledge responsibly. This category distinguishes three types: Cognitive and meta-cognitive skills, Social and emotional skills, Practical and physical skills.
